Adjutant
William Calary
|
Adjutant
.Charles William Crispens Calary, Jr. was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. His roots are deep
in the Piedmont of the Virginia-North Carolina border. To date he has
identified over 60 lineal and collateral veteran ancestors that fought
for the South's independence primarily in Virginia and North Carolina
regiments and he can name his ancestors back to Jamestown and
Williamsburg.
Adjutant Calary is a graduate of North Carolina State University and
received his Bachelor of Arts degree in History. Being a life-long
student of history, Adjutant Calary understands why The South seceded
from the United States and created their own country. He understands
that it cannot be summed up in one word, as many want to do, but that it
was a long and multi-faceted conflict that caused the separation and
that it was that separation which caused the North to invade the South
and cause the war, not the original conflicts.
Adjutant Calary is a member of several hereditary societies in addition
to the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He is the State Secretary for the
General Society of the War of 1812; a member of the Sons of the
Revolution; the Military Order of the Stars and Bars; and the General
Society of the War of 1812 in the State of Maryland. He also has
application he is working on for several other societies.
