& Co. B., 2nd Cherokee Cavalry

Honoured by Compatriot Jerold (Jerry) Little, great grandson

Samuel R. Little, who was Cherokee, began the War in Co. I, Clarkson's Cavalry Battalion Independent Rangers (also called Indian Battalion).  He and his brother, Ewing, who was in Co. E, 17th Arkansas Infantry, were captured and released in a prisoner exchange.  They both re-enlisted with their third brother, Ambrose, with Co. B, 2nd Cherokee Cavalry in Oklahoma and Texas.  This unit was commanded by Cherokee Confederate General Stand Waite, the last Confederate General to surrender.
