Battle Flag made from Flag Canton
St. Andrew's cross design; square format.
Appears to be a canton cut from a larger Confederate national flag
(Apparently a second national pattern).
Size: 42" X 44"
No battle honors or unit designation.
According to a 1961 newspaper article, this flag was found around 1930 during the
demolition of part of an antebellum house in Tallahassee. One source speculated that
before this flag was cut down to a battle flag, that it may have flown over Florida's
Capitol. Includes original rope in sleeve of flag. (More research is pending).
